Amazon Shipping, Amazon's ground parcel delivery service, will add temporary peak-season surcharges this holiday season. The fees apply from October 25, 2026 to January 16, 2027, and are highest between November 22 and December 26.
How the fees work
The surcharges are added automatically on top of each customer's contract rates. They include a fixed fee per package, plus higher charges for large, heavy or specially handled parcels.
In line with UPS and FedEx
The structure is very similar to what UPS and FedEx are expected to charge this year. One difference: for the second year running, Amazon is not adding a surcharge based on shipping volume.
Open to all businesses
This is the first holiday season in which Amazon Shipping serves any US business, not only sellers on Amazon.com.
Prices rising across the market
UPS, FedEx and USPS are all raising rates too. According to the TD Cowen/AFS freight index for the third quarter, 2026 may set a record for the average cost of shipping a ground parcel, mainly because of fuel surcharges.
Other Amazon services
Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA), Remote Fulfillment, Multi-Channel Fulfillment and Buy with Prime will also charge higher holiday fees from October 15, 2026 to January 14, 2027. These come on top of the 3.5% fuel and logistics surcharge Amazon introduced in April.
What it means for sellers
Sellers who ship to US customers should update their holiday pricing and margins now. Getting stock into the US early, before the peak weeks, can help reduce the extra costs.
