Col. (res.) Dubi Amitai has been re-elected, with no votes against, to a third term as chairman of the Presidium of the Business Sector, the umbrella group for 14 sectors of the Israeli economy. Amiti also heads the Israel Farmers' Federation.
His priorities
Amiti said he sees the role as a heavy responsibility at a time when the economy is moving from crisis management toward recovery and growth. After three years of war in which businesses proved resilient, he said the sector now has to lead growth, bring in investment, raise productivity and restore certainty for companies and the public.
He pointed to closer ties with global markets and regional partners as a major source of growth, and warned that Israel must not be left out of the large diplomatic and economic moves now taking shape. He added that the economy is common ground that goes beyond political divides.
Who the presidium represents
Members include the Manufacturers Association of Israel, the Federation of Israeli Chambers of Commerce, the Builders and Contractors Association, the Hotel Association, the Banks Association and the Farmers' Federation, among others.
For importers and exporters, the presidium is a key voice to government on trade, regulation and business costs.
