Speaking at the MARE MED conference on regional trade corridors and logistics, Gadot Group CEO Ofer Linchevsky said the group is in talks to advance new trade deals between Israel and countries across the Middle East as it expands its commercial and logistics activity.
New activity
Gadot is exploring opportunities to grow its trade with Egypt.
The group has started importing bitumen, a raw material used mainly for road paving, into Israel through a dedicated supply chain that keeps the product at a controlled temperature.
No need to wait for IMEC
Linchevsky argued that existing overland routes and logistics solutions already create real openings for regional trade, even while the planned IMEC corridor infrastructure is still being built. In his view, business initiatives and cooperation between companies should lead the corridor's development, without waiting for the full rail network to be completed. He added that Israel, and Haifa Port in particular, holds a strong strategic advantage thanks to its location and existing infrastructure.
What it means for importers
New overland and regional trade options may open up between Israel, Egypt and Gulf markets. Importers of bulk and temperature-sensitive goods should watch for new routes and check origin and documentation requirements early.
